I was inspired by Willie Anne Wright’s series titled “Southland”. I particularly like the images of the woman dressed in white near and inside an abandoned worn down house. The woman symbolises pain and loss, which, I feel, is also reflected in her surroundings. I like the settings in the images and would love to create photographs in similar environs. I also like how the woman appears blurred in some of the images, which I find quite atmospheric and is something I want to experiment with. WillIe Anne Wright’s photographs reminded me of Francesca Woodman’s work, for me, both photographers explore that fine line between fragility and destruction within their images, something I’m drawn too.
